Mayflower (ThursdayTreeLove)

May has been unusually hot this year in Pune with no signs of summer showers. Yet the trees seem to be loving the heat.

Especially the Delonix regia of the Caesalpiniaceae family. Better known as the Gulmohor or the Mayflower.

Presently the tree is in an leafless stage and it is fully covered with flowers. The tree blazes red or orange-red and surprisingly this colour is actually soothing even in the brilliant daylight.

The tree beckons from a distance. The full post is here

The fading flowers lay a carpet for us to walk on and demand anyone stepping on it to look up at the glorious red canopy above.

A Red Carpet!

A flower does not think of competing to the flower next to it. It just blooms! - Zen Shin

Unsually shaped flowers

Why walkers, even those in vehicles will be distracted by the flowers glowing in the  sunlight. Definitely can be a hazard so one has to be careful to keep eyes on the road!

The flowers glow in the early morning sunshine! A big distraction indeed! This tree from my cycling route.

I am sure you have seen the Mayflower in your city!

I am joining Parul in her ThursdayTreeLove bloghop. Do head over to see some fantastic trees from around the world. Better still, join in!

  2. These trees aren't hardy enough for where I live in the Northeast United States but I hope to see one in bloom in person one day (I think they can grow in Florida). They are so beautiful!
