A Tree By The Lake (ThursdayTreeLove)

When travelling its always wonderful to see trees growing there. Healthy happy trees especially in public spaces , to me, shows that locals and the administration take care of the flora and are care deeply about green spaces in their town/city.

I am sure all of you will agree with me.

In Chandigarh, I met this beautiful old Ficus religiosa that was labelled as a Heritage Tree. It lives by the Sukhna Lake and is a lovely sight. Also called Peepal, this belongs to the Moraceae family.

Chandigarh has lovely roads flanked on either side by large  trees. All well maintained. Its a pleasure to be there.

Here it is.

Chandigarh has many heritage trees. I could not visit them all maybe another visit is required!

Which trees have you seen in your travels?

I am joining Parul in her ThursdayTreeLove blog hop. Do head over to see fantastic trees from around the world. Better still, join in.

What a glorious tree. I wonder why they put that white coat at the bottom....

I like how they made the sign written in the tree's voice. I'm wondering why they seem to have painted the bottom, too, so I looked it up and read that it might be to prevent sunscald that could crack the bark. I hope the tree doesn't mind.

Maybe they painted the bottom white to prevent sunscald. I read about that. Hope the tree doesn't mind. Nice sign.

@marina Sometimes a white is a coat of some chemical is painted on to prevent attacks by white ants. I am not sure if that is the case here. A very apt observation. Thanks Marina.

@annonymus preventing sunscald could be a reason. I am not sure... I need to find out. Yes, putting up the notice in first person makes it very personal. Thanks for stopping by!

Yes, I have seen this Lake peepal Tree. Its graceful in its own unique way. And how well said in that label that this tree has well kept so many secrets in its heart shaped leaves.

This is gorgeous and also huge. Chandigarh is very well maintained and green. A few times that I have been there, it is a good city. Thanks for joining Archana. I missed last edition but I will be back tomorrow.
